Relaxing to the MAX

That’s the feeling of a woman who is totally overwhelmed and also totally excited about it all. I am so grateful to have had so many opportunities to work and play out of town this past year, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t also grateful to be home now! There’s something so wonderful about sleeping in your own bed, you know?

That doesn’t mean I don’t have fun news to share though! First up: have you watched The Girls on the Bus yet?! Not only is it an excellent exploration of female friendship in the messy, chaotic, vital world of journalism, but did I mention I’m also in it? That’s right! I shot 6 of 10 episodes and my character Margaret made it into 5. She’s blunt, brash, very good at her job, and has great hair, if I do say so myself. I think you’ll like her! It was truly a joy to work with this cast and crew and while we don’t have any word about whether we’ll be renewed for season 2 just yet, we can keep hoping. If you watched and enjoyed the show, please let MAX (and Warner Brothers) know on socials. And if you haven’t watched yet, all 10 episodes are streaming on MAX right now – what are you waiting for? Scroll down for a few behind-the-scenes photos from my time on set to whet your appetite!

The other fun news to share is three of the audiobooks I recorded earlier this year will soon be published: The InvestiGatorsThe Fall of Roe, and Queens of the Jungle! Scroll down for more info on all three, including how to order or pre-order your copy today. I’m so delighted to have been trusted by the team at Macmillan Audio and the authors to bring these stories to life. It’s been a blast to develop my narration muscles over this past year, and I’m really enjoying this method of storytelling. It’s been a wonderful challenge to learn how to moderate my voice in this new way and to channel my creativity into this medium. I can’t wait to do more!

Upcoming Audiobooks

The Fall of Roe

Is was such a privilege to narrate The Fall of Roe: The Rise of a New America, a debut tome from New York Times journalists Elizabeth Dias and Lisa Lerer. It’s an incredible, nonpartisan deep dive into the untold story of the plan to overturn Roe v. Wade, and I learned so much while reading (and from speaking with the authors). It also marks my first foray into long form nonfiction narration, which I’d really like to do more of! Available for pre-order on Audible or wherever you listen to audiobooks.

The InvestiGators

I had such a blast recording this hilarious graphic novel series written by John Patrick Green. I think young readers will really dig this very silly spy mystery! And bonus mystery: will the kid in your life be able to identify all 10 of the characters I voiced? Available now on Audible or wherever you listen to audiobooks.

Queens of the Jungle

Does your young reader like animals? Then they will LOVE Dr. Carly Anne York’s new book Queens of the Jungle: Meet the Female Animals Who Rule the Animal Kingdom! I learned so many fascinating facts while narrating this delightful book, and the sound design will transport you to the jungle while you learn too. Available for pre-order on Audible or wherever you listen to audiobooks.
